ASTRA Youth is an informal group of young advocates for sexual and reproductive health and rights from the Central and Eastern Europe region and Balkan countries. It was launched in 2004 as a youth wing of the ASTRA Network and consists of young activists from the region, affiliated with local nongovernmental organizations. ASTRA Youth is especially dedicated to advocacy for the implementation of comprehensive sexuality education in the school curriculum, access to evidence-based information on sex, HIV/AIDS prevention and youth friendly services among adolescents as well as the participation of young people in the policy development and decision making processes regarding Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights.
- Advocacy for the implementation of mandatory, non-discriminatory, non-judgmental,
rights and evidence-based, gender-sensitive comprehensive sexuality education in the school curriculum
- Advocacy for improved access to youth friendly sexual and reproductive health services that are high quality, equitable, comprehensive and affordable, needs and rights-based, accessible, acceptable, confidential and free of stigma and discrimination for all young people
- Advocacy for the meaningful participation of young people in the design, development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of policies regarding Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights.
