Astra youth

New member from Croatia!

CESI - Centre for Education, Counselling and Research form Zagreb in Croatia just joined the ASTRA Youth Network. CESI was established on 8th March 1997, the International Women's Day, in response to problems of the violation of human rights, in particular women's and minority rights, nationalism, militarization, and the deterioration of economic standards in the post-war period. CESI has been closely cooperating with ASTRA Youth on the occasion of the Youth’s VOICE in 2006 and YES Campaign in 2007. Vesna Štefančić will be the organization representative. Welcome! 

Healthy Youth - Healthy Future

On the occasion of the International Youth Day – 12th of August 2009, ASTRA Youth in Armenia, Kazakhstan, Georgia, Bulgaria, Azerbaijan and Poland organized promotional campaign around slogan: Healthy youth – healthy future! We used this awareness day to draw public attention to lack of proper sexual education for youth. In main cities in ASTRA Youth members countries we were trying to raise awareness among young people by distributing material about sexually transmitted infections including HIV/AIDS and promote safer sexual behavioral patterns.

UNFPA letter on the International Youth Day 2009

The UNFPA Executive Director, Thoraya Ahmed, issued a message on the occasion of the International Youth Day - SUSTAINABILITY: Our Challenge. Our Future.

Theatre based Training of Trainers in the field of HIV/AIDS and Reproductive Health in Azerbaijan.

On July 8 – 12th, 2009 Y-PEER Azerbaijan in partnership with Association of United Nations Interns Azerbaijan and Medical Doctors and Students (AzerMDS) Public Union held a 5-day Theatre-based Training of Trainers in the field of HIV/AIDS and Reproductive Health with sponsorship of “Qarant Sigorta” Insurance Company. The training, led by Ms. Fidan Gafarova, certified by UNFPA Headquarters as a trainer in the field of peer education and reproductive health, aimed at building the capacity of selected trainees to plan, design and deliver high quality theater based peer education training in the field of HIV/AIDS and reproductive health.
